What I Love About Buellton--Add Your Own

I grew up in a small town about the size of Buellton. Mountains surrounded my little home town, as they do Buellton, and that is one reason I love both. Being able to lift my gaze and see the San Rafaels keeps me in touch with the precious natural beauty of our state and our planet. We may not be able to "have it all," but Buellton brings it close.

This week's SYV Journal (January 1-6, 2009) asked 18 residents — 5 from Buellton — what they " wanted to see change in the valley in 2009. Interestingly, post-Measure E, one resident wishes that shoppers "bond together. . . to make the economy go up" and believes that Buellton will be "one of the hottest places" to make the economy turn around in the Valley. Another resident wants it to "stay the same." A third wants less building, while another "would like to see less traffic on Highway 246." The fifth Buellton resident "would like gas prices to stay down and the economy to get better for everyone" and mentions that jobs are hard to find in smaller communities.
What I love about Buellton is that residents are becoming more engaged and speaking out!

Buellton is where I have spent my entire life. While most friends from High School chose to move away after going to college, I stayed and raised a family. This town is a close knit community where you can get involved as little or as much as you want.
I am in the process of chairing a committee to Brand Buellton. It is time to look ahead and enhance our image. I welcome everyones ideas that live in this prescious valley.
